Waterers

Postby MNC on Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:58 pm

I just wanted to mention that I've seen some folks that have used plain cheap steel as waterers.
Don't buy cheap pans that can rust or corrode.
Rust is one of the worst things your poultry can drink.
If you see any corrosion or rust forming, it would be wise to dispose of the container, waterer immediately.
Check your water containers, buckets, feed scoops and make sure there are no rust or harmfull chemicals that build up on or in them over time.
Management era.

Good post.
I know that a while back, I used a steel jar for scooping and transfering feed.
Turned out that after a while, it started to rust. Found out that there was moisture that was condensing inside the drum.
I was pretty scared that it would affect my feed and most of all my birds. Lucky me, nothing happened. I got rid of the tin, steel jar. I now use a plastic scoop I bought from fleet farm. It does the job perfectly, doesn't break when dropped and has a hefty handle.
